Nekeith is an American transgender hip hop recording artist, songwriter, actress, dancer, and proud member of the Grammy Recording Academy. Raised in High Point, North Carolina, she began her music career at the age of 15, releasing her first mixtape, Unbelievable, in 2012 under the stage name Newprettyboii. A graduate with honors from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, she also founded D.O.P.E. (Dreams of Pursuing Entertainment), a student organization dedicated to supporting emerging artists.
She officially debuted in 2016 with the release of her single Bank and the Brutally Honest Mixtape, quickly gaining attention for her bold voice and fearless authenticity. Nekeith went on to open for K. Michelle and perform at the 6th Annual Hip Hop Festival in Atlanta, amplifying LGBTQ+ representation within hip hop. Her 2017 mixtape No Homophobia sparked national conversations around queer visibility in the genre, followed by the New Era EP and a finalist placement on BET’s Freestyle Friday.
In 2019, Nekeith’s album Androgynous Queen caught the attention of filmmaker Lee Daniels, leading to her selection for his Creative Workshop. That same year, her single Bad Bitch Walking gained traction across social media and major culture blogs. She continued to evolve creatively with the release of the Pillow Talk EP (2020), the GLOW album (2022), and her fifth studio album TRANSETTER (2024).
Beyond music, Nekeith expanded into film and media, making her television acting debut on Fatal Attraction in 2024 and launching The Transetter Podcast. That year, she was also honored with a Certificate of Recognition from Long Beach Mayor Rex Richardson for her impact on music and culture.
In 2025, Nekeith reached a major milestone when her singles Attitude and Why You Do Me Like That were considered for the 2026 Grammy Awards, including Best New Artist. With over 250,000 streams across platforms, she continues to build a legacy rooted in authenticity, resilience, and trailblazing artistry using her voice to challenge norms and inspire the next generation.
