Nekeith is an American transgender hip hop recording artist, songwriter, dancer, actress, model and proud member of the Grammy Recording Academy. Raised in High Point, North Carolina, she began her music career at age 15 and released her first mixtape ‘Unbelievable’ in 2012 under the stage name Newprettyboii. A graduate with honors from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, Nekeith also founded D.O.P.E. (Dreams of Pursuing Entertainment), a student organization dedicated to supporting emerging artists. In 2016, she debuted her first single and music video ‘Bank’, followed by the ‘Brutally Honest Mixtape’. She went on to open for K. Michelle and showcased her LGBTQ+ voice at the 6th Annual Hip Hop Festival in Atlanta. In 2017, she released her second mixtape ‘No Homophobia’, including a viral remix of ‘Rack It Up’ that sparked national conversations around queer representation in hip hop. Her momentum continued with the 2018 EP ‘New Era’ and a finalist spot on BET's ‘Freestyle Friday’. In 2019, her album ‘Androgynous Queen’ caught the attention of filmmaker Lee Daniels, leading to her selection for his Creative Workshop. That same year, her single ‘Bad Bitch Walking’ gained traction on social media and blogs like The Neighborhood Talk. During the pandemic, she dropped the ‘Pillow Talk’ EP (2020), followed by the 2022 album ‘GLOW’, which she toured across the U.S. In 2024, she made her television acting debut on ‘Fatal Attraction’, launched ‘The Transetter Podcast’, and released her fifth studio album ‘TRANSETTER’ to positive reviews. She was also honored with a Certificate of Recognition from Long Beach Mayor Rex Richardson for her impact on music and culture. With over 250,000 views and streams across platforms, Nekeith continues to make bold strides in entertainment, creating a legacy rooted in authenticity, resilience, and trailblazing artistry.
